How do you make friends?

The art of making friends is something that you instinctively gain throughout school but becomes harder as you go through high school.  By the time you have graduated college, the knack for making friends is almost gone.

So HOW is one expected to make friends nowadays?  I am heartily thankful for the internet but I need more friends IRL to use internet speak.

I am in the midst of a dilemma.  There is a lovely lady who I petsit for and she has the cutest baby too.  This is her dog.

Ajax

Look how cute he is!!

Um, anyway, I get sidetracked.  The lady and I get on really well and I would love to be friends with her.  BUT how do you go from person who looks after your dog to friend?  Is it as simple as a text for coffee?

Any advice?

Oh so cute. :) Hmmm... I'm not sure. That's always a hard transition. Maybe just strike up more conversations and eventually you'll just be friends :)

Aaaaaaaaaand if you haven't seen, you should probably check my blog!!

Oh! And you went back to your old blog design. Did you not like your new one?

Unfortunately I can't led much advice. I WOULD say...move to Florida and we can speak internet speak, gush over HG, all while sipping coffee :)

BUT...since that's unlikely...

I would say just the next time you're at her house with her...just ask if she would want to grab a cup of coffee. If the lady I pet sit for asked me I would accept.

Good luck girl! Talk to you soon :)

And...I meant to start off by saying what happened to your blog design? Did it runs it's course?

New blog design! I'm with Jenna, just ask her next time you see her. It takes guts, but it could pay off big time! Or you could move to Seattle. Or no, scratch that, let's both move to Florida.

I say just suggest getting together one day, all casual. A place to bring the baby that isn't too chaotic.

Making friends is hard as you get older, trust me. So if you have the chance to make one in a casual way like this, I say go for it.

I like your blog layout, much easier to read :)

Also, that dog is gorgeous, I cannot wait until I can have one for my very own.

And I definitely think friends is as simple as a text for coffee. She's probably wondering the same thing as you, so one of you may as well just get things moving. I met a girl at a night class once and we got on straight away. She just came right out and asked for my number and did I want to go shopping the following week. We've been friends ever since :) It was so fun getting to know someone new a bit later in my life too. Go for it! And let us know how you get on :)

I say totally just bowl up to her and let her know you think she's kind of cool and you'd love to catch up for coffee sometime. Almost-strangers have done that to me and I was super chuffed!

PS. I'm so glad we're internet AND real life friends :D

making new friends is the hardest thing in the world for me! but my newest {and best} girlfriend is someone who i thought was cool and i kinda did this weird "ilikeyourcompanyandiwanttobefriends" ramble and she replied that she enjoyed my company too and that she didn't really know how to say it so she was glad i did. and then we laughed and we were friends. it's totally awkward {much like this whole comment} but so worth it! =) good luck!
